How to Throw a Killer Office Party

It’s the season of holidays, and we couldn’t be more excited. Organizing Halloween, Thanksgiving and even Christmas parties is finally around the corner, and if you’re Monica Geller from Friends, then you probably don’t need our help. But what about all of those people who need to organize a party without actually having any experience in this department? If you were asked to organize an upcoming office party, stay with us to acquire a couple of tips for organizing a killer one. Office parties are always somehow the same – boring and forgettable, so your job is to think outside the box and do something totally revolutionary. So, how to make a party that everyone will remember for a long, long time such as the Christmas parties from The Office?
1. The when and where
The first thing that you need to bear in mind is that you have to set a good date if you want all the guests to arrive in a good mood and actually stay there until the very end. This is why organizing an office party during a weekday is a bad idea, so opt for Friday or Saturday instead (which is an even better option due to the fact that many of you don’t work on Saturdays so the general mood for coming to an office party will be better). Another thing that you need to carefully consider is the venue for your party. Of course, the first option is the office itself, so you can always talk to your bosses and see if you can organize a party there. However, since partying in the workplace might not be something that many will like, especially because of the fact that that space reminds them of the work not done and the pending projects, you can always try to find a good restaurant or a local café for hosting your big event. There are many places that are quite affordable, and truth be told – the interior of the café doesn’t really matter so you don’t have to go with the fancy, expensive clubs.
2. The wine and dine

So, if you chose Saturday as the day for your office party, you have to carefully prepare the wine and dine list. All of your colleagues will be drinking (hopefully), so making a drink list is the right thing to do. You don’t have to serve every drink in the world, focusing on cocktails might do the trick as it’s always quite interesting. However, you might not have enough time to prepare everything. Fortunately, you can arrange for office alcohol delivery in Sydney and save yourself a trip to the store. As far as the buffet is concerned, the best idea would probably be to have tons of finger food. Even though the majority of your colleagues will come to drink, talk and dance the night away, there will always be people who prefer to eat while drinking something non-alcoholic. Having a good buffet is also excellent if someone tends to overdrink – you don’t want any drunken incidents on your office party!
3. The décor
This is the reason why we mentioned that the interior of the venue doesn’t really matter. You’re organizing an office party for a reason (probably a holiday), so decorating it in a nice way will make any venue look magical. If it’s Halloween, you want to make sure that you have pumpkins, bats, witches, and everything else that you might want (also, if this is the case, don’t forget to tell your colleagues to come dressed up in a costume). The good thing about the upcoming holidays is that you can never overdo with decoration – you might need some help because this takes a lot of time, but after all, this is the interesting part of organizing a party!
4. The whats

What will you be doing and what will you be listening to? There is a plethora of activities that you can incorporate in your office party, but you should probably stick to a good DJ and a killer playlist, because you want to recharge your batteries and dance the old work projects away and forget about them for just one night. Make sure to use the hits of today as your playlist, as this caters for everyone’s taste.
As you can see, even though it’s connected to work, organizing an office party is not difficult – on the contrary, it can actually be quite interesting! So, do your magic!

New York Haunted Destinations
It’s that time of year again, the dead grow restless, the mad grow bold, and the monsters come out from under the beds of children. The scared will stay at home, but if you long to feel your heart beat fast, or to be paranoid over what is around every corner, then we have some good news for you. New York is filled with horrible experiences we can tell you about, and we won’t even mention the traffic.
Blood Manor
Blood Manor has been dubbed as New York’s premier haunted attraction, it is undoubtedly gory, bloody, and horrifying. This year’s event is clown themed, probably in reference to the many real life creepy clown sightings last year. Held in a labyrinth 5,000 square feet large designed to heighten one’s fears, this haunted house is not advised for children under 14. Open until Nov 4th, Blood Manor runs until 12AM almost every day and until 1AM on the last two weekends of October, and if you’re not scared enough from the normal experience November 3rd and 4th are lights out nights, pitch black should perfect for chilling you to the core. Tickets will cost $30-$55, depending on if you buy them online or at the door.
Gravesend End
Gravesend End is New York City’s, College of Technology’s (City Tech), annual high-tech haunted hotel. The Gravesend Inn is made entirely by the students and staff of the school, offering fun for adults and children alike. Constantly evolving each year introduces new collaborations that uses theatre, dance, music, or interactive media to integrate technology into the event. So each year the Gravesend End presents new horrors! Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students with an ID. Citytech students with Citytech ID’s can get in free on the day of the performance.
THIS IS REAL
An intense psychological experience, THIS IS REAL is not for the faint of heart. Produced by haunted house veteran Timothy Haskell and located in a theatre where you are the star of your own interactive, THIS IS REAL is an escape room, haunted house, hardcore hide and seek, and a theatre show rolled into one heart stopping 70 minute thrill ride. Having been kidnapped you have only a short time to discover the way to survive and not get caught while trying to escape. This isn’t your haunted house because not only do you have to fend for yourself, but you also have to face the decision of saving others who were ‘kidnapped’ with you or leaving them for dead. Tickets are $95 Tuesday-Thursday and Sunday and $110 on Friday and Saturday.
Times Scare
In one of the most haunted buildings in the nation, in the heart of New York City at 42nd and 8th Times Scare is a 20 minute haunted house. You can go alone or with a group of friends, the Haunt is open weekdays from 6pm to 11pm, and weekends till 1am. Times Scare is not the most intense of experiences, but it is attached to a bar and a café. Meaning if you need a little liquid courage it won’t be hard to find. Tickets are an affordable $27 for adults and $22 for children 12 and under.
